The L.A. Launch duo of Smith and Webber earned their spot in tonight’s semifinals with a straight-set victory over the San Diego Smash pairing of Budinger and Evans.
L.A. controlled the match from the start, edging out a tight first set 19–17 before pulling away in the second, 15–13. Smith and Webber’s consistency at the net and ability to close out long rallies proved to be the difference, sealing the win in two sets. With the victory, the Launch move on to face the Palm Beach Passion later tonight in the semifinals.
The winner of that matchup will advance to the Championship Final on Sunday, broadcast nationally on CBS.
